Zosyn (Piperacillin/Tazobactam) is a prescription combination medication that is used for the treatment of many different infections caused by bacteria such as urinary tract infections, bone and joint infections, severe vaginal infections, stomach infections, skin infections and pneumonia. Piperacillin and Tazobactam combination is an antibiotic that belongs to the group of medications known as penicillins and beta-lactamase inhibitors. This medication works by killing the bacteria and preventing their growth. Zosyn will not work for colds, flu or other viral infections. This medication is given by injection into a vein as directed by the doctor, usually every 6 hours. It should be injected slowly over at least 30 minutes.

Canadian Pharmacy King is currently offering the generic Piperacillin/Tazobactam from Canada. The brand name Zosyn is not available at this time. This medication is available in the strength of 2.25 gm, 3.375 gm and 4.5 gm, 10 x 30 ml vials.
The common side effects of Zosyn may include constipation, diarrhea, headache, nausea and trouble sleeping.
Many people using this medication do not have any serious side effects. Inform your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Abdominal or stomach pain;
• Blood or mucus in your stool;
• Diarrhea that doesn’t stop:
• Easy bruising or bleeding
You should see your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as seizures or signs of kidney problems.
You should not use Zosyn if you are allergic to Piperacillin or Tazobactam or if you have any other allergies. Before you start using this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and especially of cystic fibrosis or kidney disease. This medication contains sodium. Inform your doctor if are on salt restricted diet or if you have conditions such as heart failure or high blood pressure. You should not have any vaccinations while you are using this medication unless advised by your doctor. This medication should not be used during pregnancy unless it is clearly needed. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding a baby as this medication passes into breast milk in small amounts.
