Zonnic (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) is an over-the-counter medication used to relieve the craving for nicotine and withdrawal symptoms when you stop smoking. This helps to prevent relapse into smoking in smokers who are motivated to stop or to facilitate the reduction of smoking for smokers who cannot and are unwilling to stop smoking completely. The active ingredient in Zonnic is Nicotine. Nicotine belongs to a class of drugs called Nicotine Replacement Therapy. It works by supplying low doses of nicotine to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms, helping you quit smoking.

We currently offer the brand Zonnic from Canada manufactured by Imperial Tobacco Company in the strength of 4 mg/24 mg pouches. The generic version is not available.
Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using Zonnic. The most common side effects of Zonnic may include the following:
• Dizziness;
• Headache;
• Hiccups;
• Sore mouth;
• Upset stomach
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Fast or irregular heartbeat;
• Nicotine addiction;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing, hives, swelling of the face, lips, or throat
These are not all of the side effects of Zonnic. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.
You should not use Zonnic if you are allergic to Nicotine Replacement Therapy or any ingredient in Zonnic. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant;
• Have a tumor of the adrenal gland;
• Have blood circulation disorders;
• Have diabetes;
• Have had a recent heart attack;
• Have hyperthyroidism;
• Have phenylketonuria (PKU);
• Have severe heart disease;
• Have severe kidney disease;
• Have severe liver disease;
• Have stomach ulcer;
• Have untreated high blood pressure
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Zonnic and other medicines, like clozapine, insulin, pentazocine, etc. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is important to stop smoking when pregnant because it can affect your baby’s growth and also lead to premature births or stillbirths. Your doctor will let you know if you should use Zonnic to quit smoking when pregnant. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Nicotine passes into breast milk and may harm your nursing infant. Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. Zonnic comes as a pouch. Place a pouch under your upper lip and let it remain there for approximately 30 minutes. You can occasionally move the pouch around with your tongue. When starting treatment, you can use between 8 to 12 pouches daily, changing the pouches every second hour. Do not use more than 24 pouches in a day. Treatment may take up to 3 months. Your Nicotine dosage may be reduced gradually afterward till you stop smoking. You may take a piece of pouch when you are tempted to smoke. Do not use Zonnic for more than 6 months unless your doctor prescribes it. Do not smoke while using Zonnic. You may suffer a nicotine overdose. Please do not eat or drink while using Zonnic, as they may decrease the effectiveness of the medication. Avoid acidic drinks like fruit juice while using Zonnic and for at least 15 minutes before using Zonnic. Store this drug at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
