Zofran Injection (Ondansetron Hydrochloride Dihydrate) is a prescription medication used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by radiotherapy (in adults) and chemotherapy (in adults and children). The drug also prevents nausea and vomiting after surgery. The active ingredient in Zofran Injection is Ondansetron Hydrochloride Dihydrate. Ondansetron Hydrochloride Dihydrate belongs to a class of medications called serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. It works by blocking the action of serotonin, the natural substance that causes nausea and vomiting.

Get medical help immediately if you have any signs or an allergic reaction while taking Zofran Injection. The most common side effects of Zofran may include the following:
• Constipation;
• Diarrhea;
• Drowsiness;
• Fever;
• Headache

Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, including:
• Blurry vision or temporary vision loss;
• Headache with severe dizziness and chest pain;
• High serotonin levels in the body, including hallucinations, agitation, fever, and loss of coordination;
• Light-headed feeling;
• Little to no urination;
• Severe constipation, bloating, or stomach pain;
• Swelling of face, tongue, or throat

Ondansetron Hydrochloride Dihydrate taken during pregnancy may harm the unborn baby and increase the risk of having a cleft lip or palate. You should use effective contraception if you are a woman of childbearing potential. Zofran passes into breast milk. Do not breastfeed during treatment. A doctor will administer a Zofran injection. The dose will be based on your treatment. Zofran injection should start working immediately after having the injection. Contact your doctor if you continue to be sick. This drug may make you dizzy and drowsy. Do not drive or operate machines while having Zofran. Keep Ondansetron Hydrochloride Dihydrate out of reach and sight of children. Protect Zofran injection from light and not store above 300C (860F).
