Zocor (Simvastatin) is used to lower cholesterol and triglycerides (types of fat) in the blood. This medication may also be used to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, and other heart complications in people with diabetes, coronary heart disease, and other risk factors. It works by blocking the enzyme that helps create cholesterol in the body. This medication is used in addition to diet and exercise to lower cholesterol levels. Simvastatin is used in adults and children who are at least 10 years old.
