Zestril (Lisinopril) is an ACE inhibitor that is used to treat high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. It may also be used immediately after a heart attack in order to reduce the risk of having another heart attack. This medication works by relaxing blood vessels and helping the heart to pump blood that carries oxygen to other parts of the body more efficiently.

Common side effects include:
• Cough;
• Depressed mood;
• Dizziness, drowsiness;

• Mild skin itching or rash;
• Nausea
Serious side effects include:
• Change in the amount of urine;
• Chest pain;
• Fainting;
• Signs of an infection;
• Symptoms of a high potassium blood level
You should not use Zestril if you are allergic to Lisinopril or to any other ACE inhibitor, such as benazepril, captopril, enalapril, fosinopril, moexipril, perindopril, quinapril, Ramipril, or trandolapril. Before you start taking the medication, inform your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking including OTC and herbal medications. You should also inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease or congestive heart failure, diabetes, etc. Do not use Zestril if you are pregnant. It is unknown whether Lisinopril passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. There may be an interaction between Lisinopril and other medications such as antidiabetes medications, water pills, beta blockers, NSAIDS, blood pressure medications, potassium-sparing diuretics.
