Zerlasiran (Zerlasiran) is a prescription medication used to treat patients with elevated lipoprotein who are at high risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease events. High levels of lipoprotein (a) can increase your risk of having a heart attack, a stroke, and aortic stenosis. Genetics, intake of some types of fats, and some medical conditions can increase lipoprotein levels. Zerlasiran belongs to a class of drugs called short-interfering RNA (siRNA). It works by lowering the body's production of lipoprotein.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using Zerlasiran. The most common side effects of Zerlasiran may include the following:
• Abdominal pain;
• Cough;
• Fatigue;
• Headache
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Signs of an allergic reaction, including breathing difficulties, hives, or swelling of the face, lips, or throat
These are not all of the side effects of Zerlasiran. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.
You should not receive Zerlasiran if you are allergic to Zerlasiran or any ingredient in Zerlasiran. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or planning to be pregnant
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Zerlasiran and other medicines. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is not known if Zerlasiran will harm your unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is unknown whether Zerlasiran passes into breast milk or if it may affect a nursing infant. Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. Zerlasiran is an injection. Your doctor will administer this drug subcutaneously to you. Avoid alcohol when using Zerlasiran. Alcohol can increase the side effects of the drug. Store Zerlasiran injection below room temperature. Do not freeze. Keep Zerlasiran and all medicines out of the reach of children.
