Xyzal (Levocetirizine) is a prescription medication used to relieve year-round allergy symptoms in children at least 6 months old. These symptoms include watery eyes, itchy eyes, runny nose, and sneezing. Allergies occur when your immune system reacts to a foreign substance such as pollen, pet dander, bee venom, or certain foods that don’t cause a reaction in most people. The drug is also used to relieve itching and swelling caused by hives in adults and children at least 6 months old. The active ingredient in Xyzal is Levocetirizine. Levocetirizine belongs to a class of drugs called dopamine agonists. It works by correcting the chemical imbalance in the brain to reduce the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Levocetirizine belongs to a class of drugs called antihistamines. It works by blocking the action of histamine, a natural substance that the body produces during an allergic reaction.
