Xigduo XR contains two active substances, Dapagliflozin Propanediol (brand name: Farxiga) is an SGLT2 inhibitor works by removing excess sugar from your bloodstream. Metformin lowers glucose production in the liver and prevents reabsorbing of glucose. Xigduo XR should NOT use for the treatment of type 1 diabetes. Take Xigduo XR exactly as prescribed.

The most common side effects of Xigduo XR include:
• Diarrhea;
• Headache;
• Nausea;
• Sore throat;
• Stuffy or runny nose;
• Vomiting;
• Yeast infections of the vagina or penis;

• Fainting and lightheaded;
• Fast or irregular heartbeat;
• Increased bad cholesterol;
• Muscle pain or weakness;
• Numbness or cold feeling in the arms or legs;

• Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat;
Do not take Xigduo XR if you are allergic to Dapagliflozin or Metformin or any ingredients in this medication. Tell your doctor about all the medical conditions you have had before.

• Blood problems;
• Diabetic ketoacidosis or type 1 diabetes;
• Heart disease or stroke;
• If you are going to get an injection of dye for an x-ray or CT scan;
• If you are on a low sale diet;
• Liver or kidney disease;
• Low blood pressure;
Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking including prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines including herbal supplements. Especially: beta-blockers, blood pressure medications, digoxin, diuretic or “water pill”, oral diabetes medications or insulin, rifampin, ritonavir, seizure medications, etc. Xigduo XR should NOT be taken in pregnant women. Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
