Xeloda (Capecitabine) is a prescription cancer medication that is used for the treatment of colon cancer and breast or colorectal cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. This medication is used in combination with other cancer medication or radiation treatments. Capecitabine is an anti-cancer chemotherapy drug. It works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells. Xeloda tablets are taken with water within 30 minutes after a meal.

The common side effects may include changes in taste, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, tiredness, trouble sleeping and weakness. You may have temporary hair loss which should return to normal growth after your treatment ends.

Women who are pregnant or plan to become pregnant should not handle this medication or breathe the dust from the tablets. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding.
