Xalacom (Latanoprost/Timolol) is a prescription medication that is used to lower raised pressure in the eye and to treat glaucoma. Latanoprost belongs to a class of medications called prostaglandin analogs. It works by reducing the pressure in the eye by allowing fluid in the eye to flow better. Timolol belongs to a class of medications called beta-adrenergic receptor blockers also known as beta-blockers. It works by reducing the production of fluid in the eye which lowers the pressure in the eye. Xalacom is a combination medication that is used by people with chronic open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who do not respond well to treatment with only one medication.
