Vitamin B12, also called cobalamin or methylcobalamin, is a synthetic form of cyanocobalamin used for the prevention and treatment of low levels of Vitamin B12 in the blood. Vitamin B12 is needed to maintain good metabolism, health of blood cells and nerves. Serious Vitamin B12 deficiency can result in decreased number of red blood cells (anemia), stomach or intestinal diseases and permanent nerve damage.
