Verelan (Verapamil) belongs to the class of medications known as calcium channel blockers. Verapamil is used for the treatment of high blood pressure. This mediation works by controlling blood pressure and reduces the number of angina attacks by relaxing blood vessels. By lowering your high blood pressure, you can help prevent strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems. It may also lower your heart rate. Verelan is taken once daily with or without food.
