Urispas (Flavoxate) is a prescription medication used to reduce muscle spasms of the bladder and urinary tract. The drug is also used to treat bladder symptoms like painful urination, frequent urination at night, bladder pain, and incontinence. These symptoms may result from catheter use or conditions like prostatitis, cystitis, urethritis, urethrocystitis, and urethrotrigonitis. Urispas will not treat a bladder infection. The active ingredient in Urispas is Flavoxate. Flavoxate belongs to a class of drugs called antispasmodics. It works by decreasing muscle spasms in the urinary tract and bladder. You may experience the beneficial effects of the drug within 2 to 3 hours after taking the medication.

We currently offer the brand Urispas from the United Kingdom manufactured by Recordati Pharma in the strength of 200 mg tablets. The generic Flavoxate is not available.
Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while taking Urispas. The most common side effects of Urispas may include the following:
• Dizziness;
• Headache;
• Nausea;
• Rash
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Blurred vision;
• Confusion;
• Fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats;
• High fever
These are not all of the side effects of Urispas. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.
You should not take Urispas if you are allergic to Flavoxate or any ingredient in Urispas. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed;
• Are not able to completely empty your bladder;
• Are pregnant or planning to be pregnant;
• Have a gastrointestinal disease that affects the normal passage of food;
• Have a muscular inability to swallow;
• Have an impaired kidney function;
• Have glaucoma;
• Have intestinal bleeding;
• Have myasthenia gravis
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Urispas and clobazam, tramadol, propoxyphene, etc. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Urispas is not expected to harm an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is not known if Flavoxate passes into breast milk or if it may affect a nursing infant. Take Urispas precisely as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not break or crush the tablet. Take the tablets after a meal to prevent nausea. Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience blurred vision while taking Urispas. Keep this medicine out of the sight of children. Do not store above 300C.
