Topicort (Desoximetasone) is a prescription medication used to treat several skin conditions like eczema, allergies, dermatitis, and rash. The drug reduces redness, inflammation, and itching caused by skin conditions that respond to steroid medication. The active ingredient in Topicort is Desoximetasone. Desoximetasone belongs to a class of drugs called corticosteroids. It works by activating natural substances in your skin to reduce swelling, redness, and itching.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using Topicort. The most common side effects of Topicort may include the following:
• Changes in the color of treated skin;
• Increased hair growth;
• Mild burning, itching, or irritation of treated skin;
• Redness or crusting around your hair follicles

Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Blurred vision;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing, hives, swelling of the face, lips, or throat;
• Signs of high blood sugar, such as increased thirst, increased urination, dry mouth, fruity breath odor

It may not be safe to breastfeed your baby if you apply Topicort to your chest. Avoid applying the medicine to areas that may come into contact with the baby’s mouth. Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. Topicort is a topical medicine. Do not take it by mouth. Rinse immediately with water if this medicine gets into your eyes or mouth. Wash your hands before and after using Desoximetasone unless you are treating the skin on your hands. Apply a thin layer of the gel, ointment, or cream to the affected skin and rub it in gently. Do not apply this drug over a large skin area unless your doctor has told you to. Do not cover the treated skin with a bandage or other covering. Covering the treated area can increase the amount of medicine absorbed through your skin and may cause harmful effects. Do not apply Topicort to your face, underarms, or groin area. Do not use this drug to treat any skin condition that your doctor has not checked. Topicort is for short-term use only. Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after two weeks of using this medicine. Store this drug at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Do not freeze. Keep out of the reach of children.
