Toloxin (Digoxin) is used to treat congestive heart failure and certain types of abnormal heart rhythms. This medication helps to maintain a normal heart rhythm in patients with atrial fibrillation and it reduces the symptoms of congestive heart failure by helping to increase the strength of the heart so that it pumps more efficiently. Digoxin is normally taken once a day at the same time each day.

The brand Toloxin is manufactured by Pendopharm Pharmascience in Canada. It comes in the strength of 0.0625mg, 0.125mg, 0.25mg tablets and 50mcg/ml/115ml solution.
Check with your doctor immediately if you experience any of these common side effects:
• Dizziness;
• Fainting;
• Fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse;
• Slow heartbeat
Less serious side effects include:
• Anxiety, agitation;
• Confusion;
• Depression;
• Diarrhea;
• Hallucinations;
• Rash;
• Vomiting
Do not use this medication if you are allergic to Digoxin or if you have certain abnormal heart rhythms. Before you start taking this medication, inform your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins, and supplements you are taking. There may be an interaction between digoxin and other medications such as amiodarone, antacids, beta-blockers, calcium, cyclosporine, intraconazole, levothyroxine, etc. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast- feeding or planning to become pregnant while using this medication. Digoxin can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not take this medication without consulting your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
