Tobi Podhaler (Tobramycin) is a prescription medication used to treat people with cystic fibrosis who have a bacterial infection called Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Tobramycin inhalation belongs to a group of medications called aminoglycosides (antibiotics). This medication works by killing the bacteria that causes the infection.

The common side effects of Tobramycin may include anemia, confusion, diarrhea, dizziness, fever, and injection site reactions, loss of appetite, itching, kidney problems, nausea, spinning sensation and vomiting.
Inform your doctor right away if you have any of the following serious side effects such as:
• Chest tightness or wheezing;
• Coughing up blood;
• Signs of hearing damage;
• Signs of kidney problems

You should not use Tobi Podhaler if you are allergic to Tobramycin or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. Tobramycin may cause live bacterial vaccines to not work as well. Do not have any immunization or vaccinations while you are using this medication. This medication should not be used during pregnancy. It is unknown if inhaled Tobramycin passes into breast milk. Store the ampules in the refrigerator at 2 degrees C to 8 degrees C away from light and out of reach of children. It can also be stored at room temperature for up to 28 days.
