Steglujan (Ertugliflozin/Sitagliptin) is a prescription medication used in combination with diet and exercise to control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. In type 2 diabetes, the pancreas does not produce enough insulin. Consequently, the cells respond poorly and take in less sugar. The active ingredients in Steglujan are Ertugliflozin and Sitagliptin. Ertugliflozin belongs to a class of drugs called sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. It works by helping the kidneys get rid of glucose from the bloodstream. Sitagliptin belongs to a class of drugs called dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. It works by regulating the levels of insulin your body produces after eating. Steglujan will only work for type 2 diabetes. The drug is not for treating type 1 diabetes.
