SportVis (Sodium Hyaluronate) is an innovative treatment to help treat tendon and ligament injuries. SportVis is a peri-articular injection of Stabha (soft tissue adapted biocompatible hyaluronic acid) indicated to relieve pain and restore function in damaged tendons and ligaments. SportVis is the only hyaluronic acid (Stabha: Soft Tissue Adapted Biocompatible Hyaluronic Acid) supplement indicated for soft tissue injuries. SportVis augments the sodium hyaluronate naturally present in the soft tissue surrounding damaged tendons and ligaments and provides support, lubrication, and hydration to the affected site. SportVis is intended to relieve pain and restore function in acute first- and second-degree ankle sprain and chronic (>3 months) lateral epicondylalgia (tennis elbow). Peri-articular injection of SportVis™ should only be administered by a healthcare professional trained in the specific peri-articular injection technique which is injury specific.

Manufacturer Information

Canadian Pharmacy King currently offers the brand SportVis from Canada by Pendopharm Pharmascience. SportVis comes as two Prefilled Syringes per pack, which is available in the strength of 1%/1.2 ml. The generic alternative is currently unavailable.

Common side effects SportVis may include difficulty with moving; muscle pain or stiffness; pain in the joints; swelling or redness in the joints.

Call your doctor immediately if you notice less common but more serious side effects such as:
• Bleeding, blistering, burning;
• Coldness, discoloration of the skin;
• Feeling of pressure;
• Inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness;
• Pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness;
• Swelling, tenderness, tingling;
• Ulceration

This is not a complete list of side effects, and others may occur. Contact your doctor if any of these side effects worsen or persist.

Do not take SportVis if you have an allergy or sensitivity to sodium hyaluronate. Before taking SportVis, tell your healthcare professional about all your medical conditions or if you are pregnant or breast feeding. SportVis should only be injected by a healthcare professional trained in peri-articular injection techniques. SportVis must not be injected into blood vessels or into a hematoma. Direct injection into tendons should be avoided, as this can lead to rupture. Use of an ultrasound probe to guide the injection will minimize this risk. Do not inject into the soft tissue of patients if the area of the injection site is infected or if there is evidence of acute or chronic skin disease in the area. Before taking SportVis, check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any other drugs, including non-prescription drugs (for colds, nausea, etc.).
