Sodium Bicarbonate is an OTC medication used to treat heartburn and indigestion. This medication may also be used to make your blood or urine less acidic in certain conditions. Sodium Bicarbonate belongs to a class of medications called antacids, and works by neutralizing stomach acid, which leads to a reduction of symptoms caused by a build up of acid in the stomach. Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve, or if they worsen while using this medication.

Common side effects of Sodium Bicarbonate may include dry mouth, increased thirst, or urinating more than usual.
