Simparica Trio (Pyrantel/Sarolaner/Moxidectin) is a prescription medication used to prevent heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis. The drug is also used to treat and control roundworm and hookworm infections. Simparica Trio also kills adult fleas and helps prevent and control flea and tick infestations. The drug may also be used to treat demodicosus and to treat and control intestinal nematode. A single dose of Simparica Trio at monthly intervals can also treat sarcoptic mange. The active ingredients in Simparica Trio are Pyrantel, Sarolaner, and Moxidectin. Pyrantel and Moxidectin belong to a class of drugs called anthelmintics. They work by causing paralysis or death in the microorganisms causing the infections. Sarolaner belongs to a class of drugs called isoxazoline, a class of parasiticides. It works by increasing neuromuscular activity, leading to the death of insects and parasites.
