Sibelium (Flunarizine) is a preventative migraine medication. It helps to reduce the frequency of attacks and lessen the severity of them as well. It works by preventing loss of tone and dilation of blood vessels. Sibelium should not be used to treat an acute migraine headache already in progress. The usual recommended start dose is 5mg tablets.

The brand Sibelium is manufactured by Johnson & Johnson and currently comes from India. The generic Flunarizine is available from India also called Migarid manufactured by Cipla. It may come from other international countries. Sibelium is available in a 5mg and 10mg dosage.
Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking Flunarizine.
• Difficulty breathing;
• Hives;
• Swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat
Stop taking Sibelium and call your doctor at once if you have one of these serious side effects:
• Abnormal or uncontrollable movements (especially of the face or mouth)
• Depression;
• Difficulty moving;
• Muscle aches;
• Skin rash;
• Tremors
Less serious side effects of Flunarizine may include: drowsiness, weight gain, nausea, heartburn, dry mouth, constipation, insomnia, and anxiety.

Sibelium should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. Talk to your doctor about your medical history to be sure you can safely take Sibelium. You should not take Sibelium if you are allergic to Flunarizine. It is not known whether or not this medication will harm an unborn or nursing infant. You shouldn’t take Sibelium while pregnant or nursing without discussing the risks with your doctor. There may be an interaction between Sibelium and other medications. Talk to your doctor about any medications or herbal supplements you are currently taking.
