Sensodyne (Toothpaste) is an over-the-counter medication used to build increasing protection against painful sensitivity of the teeth to cold, heat, acids, sweets, or contact. Teeth sensitivity is a common dental problem that causes temporary sharp pain or discomfort in one or more teeth. Sensodyne also aids in the prevention of dental cavities. Sensodyne belongs to a class of medications called Toothpaste. It works by soothing the nerves inside your teeth, preventing them from sending pain signals from sensitivity pain triggers such as a burst of cold air or hot coffee. It also creates a barrier over areas of exposed dentin – the soft, inner part of the tooth – to protect teeth from sensitivity triggers.
