Sectral (Acebutolol) is a prescription medication used to treat mild-to-moderate high blood pressure and irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia). Lowering high blood pressure prevents complications such as heart attacks, kidney problems, and strokes. Treating arrhythmia reduces strain on the heart and helps it work better. Sectral is also used to reduce angina (severe chest pain). The active ingredient in Sectral is Acebutolol. Acebutolol belongs to a class of drugs called beta blockers. It works by blocking the action of natural substances like epinephrine on the body to lower heart rate, blood pressure, and strain on the heart.
