Saflutan (Tafluprost) is a prescription medication used to treat open angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension in adults. These conditions result from increased pressure within the eye, which may eventually affect your eyesight. The active ingredient in Saflutan is Tafluprost. Tafluprost belongs to a class of drugs called prostaglandin analogues. It works by lowering the pressure in the eye.

We currently offer the brand Saflutan from the United Kingdom also called Zioptan manufactured by MSD in the strength of 150 mcg/ml eye drops. The generic Tafluprost is not available.
Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using Saflutan. The most common side effects of Saflutan may include the following:
• Headache;
• Itching of the eye;
• Redness;
• Watery eyes
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Blurred vision;
• Changes in the color of the iris;
• Changes in the length, thickness, and number of eyelashes;
• Foreign body sensation in the eye;
• Reduction in the eye’s ability to see details
These are not all of the side effects of Saflutan. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.
You should not use Saflutan if you are allergic to Tafluprost or any ingredient in Saflutan. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or planning to be pregnant;
• Have asthma;
• Have kidney problems;
• Have liver problems;
• Have other eye diseases
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Saflutan and other medicines. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Do not use Saflutan when pregnant. Use an effective method of birth control when using this drug. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. You should not use Saflutan when breastfeeding. Use Saflutan precisely as prescribed by your doctor. Wash your hands before applying the eye drop. Drop one drop to waste when using the bottle for the first time. Use one drop in your eyes once daily in the evening. Put the cap back and close the bottle tightly after use. Only use Saflutan in both eyes if your doctor says so. Saflutan is for use in your eyes only. If you accidentally swallow the medicine, contact your doctor. If you use other drugs in your eye, wait at least 5 minutes between putting in Saflutan and the other medication. You may experience temporary blurred vision after using this eye drop. Do not drive or use machines until your vision is clear. Do not stop using this drug without asking your doctor. If you stop using Saflutan, the pressure in your eye will increase again, which may cause permanent injury to your eye. Store in the refrigerator. Do not freeze. After opening, store below 250C.
