Robaxisal (Acetylsalicyclic acid/Methocarbamol) is a prescription medication used to relieve pain and relax tension resulting from muscle spasms. Muscle spasms occur when the muscles involuntarily and forcibly contract and cannot relax. Robaxisal is a combination drug. The active ingredients in Robaxisal are Acetylsalicyclic acid and Methocarbamol. Acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) belongs to a class of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by blocking enzymes that produce prostaglandins in the body. Reducing the production of prostaglandins helps to relieve pain and discomfort resulting from muscle spasms. Methocarbamol belongs to a class of drugs called skeletal muscle relaxants. It works by calming overactive nerves in the body to help the muscles relax.
