Restasis is a prescription medication used to treat certain patients who have a condition called aqueous deficient dry eye (ADDE, a subtype of DED, dry eye disease). It was developed specifically to treat a type of Chronic Dry Eye with decreased tear production due to inflammation. This inflammation can interfere with the eyes’ ability to produce tears. As a result of this, fewer tears are produced, and the eyes become dry. Cyclosporine is a calcineurin inhibitor immunosuppressive medication that works calming down inflammation in your eyes and tear ducts. This helps to improve your body's natural ability to make tears, which can relieve symptoms of chronic dry eye. Other prescription eye care medications include: Cequa and Xiidra.

Effects of postoperative cyclosporine ophthalmic emulsion 0.05% (Restasis) following glaucoma surgery - 2009, G Fakhraie, JF Lopes, GL Spaeth MD, found that " Topical cyclosporine 0.05% had no effect on postoperative bleb function and intraocular pressure following trabeculectomy, but improved subjective ocular surface symptoms in these patients.”
