Repronex (Menotropins) is a prescription medication used to treat fertility problems in women. The drug provides follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) to stimulate healthy ovaries to make eggs. Menotropins is often used in women with healthy ovaries enrolled in an assisted reproductive technology (ART) program. The program involves procedures such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). Repronex is often combined with another hormone (human chorionic gonadotropin-hCG) to stimulate ovulation and help you become pregnant. The active ingredient in Repronex is Menotropins. Menotropins belong to a class of medications called gonadotropins, ovulation stimulators. It works by binding to the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSH), which results in ovulation in the absence of sufficient endogenous luteinizing hormone (LH).

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Repronex and other medicines. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. You have a higher risk of an ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage if you get pregnant while undergoing IVF procedures. An ectopic pregnancy is life-threatening and can cause problems that make it harder for you to get pregnant in the future. It is not known if Repronex is excreted in breast milk. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Use Repronex precisely as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor or nurse will administer this drug as a shot under your skin. You may be taught how to administer this medicine at home. Wash your hands with soap and water, and use a clean work area to prepare your injection. The solution in the vial should be clear and colorless. Do not use it if it is cloudy, discolored, or contains large particles. Repronex may cause more than one egg to be released from your ovary simultaneously. This means you may become pregnant with more than one baby. Talk with your doctor about this possibility before you start using this drug. Menotropins may increase your risk of ovarian cancer if you receive it more than once to get pregnant. Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Store unused medicine in the refrigerator or at room temperature. Protect from light.
