Pulmicort Nebuamp belongs to the class of corticosteroids which are used to reduce inflammation. sthma is caused by inflammation in the airways. Pulmicort Nebuamp reduces and prevents this inflammation. In some cases, several weeks of regular use may be needed before the full effect is seen. Pulmicort Nebuamp will not relieve an asthma attack that has already started. Many inhalers contain fast-acting bronchodilators to provide rapid relief. Pulmicort Nebuamp is for use in a nebulizer or respirator. Do not use in an ultrasonic nebulizer. Be sure you know how to use your nebulizer or respirator before you start this drug. The dosage of Pulmicort Nebuamp depends on the individual. For children, initially recommended dose is 0.25 to 0.5 mg twice daily. For adults, the dosage is 1 mg to 2 mg twice daily.
In a study, on Comparison of nebulized budesonide and oral prednisolone with placebo in the treatment of acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by F Maltais, J Ostinelli, J Bourbeau… (American journal of …, 2002), they found that systemic corticosteroids successfully improved airflow rates in patients with acute exacerbation of COPD requiring hospitalization.
