Propecia (Finasteride) is a prescription medication used to treat male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) at the crown and in the middle of the scalp. Finasteride, which is branded as Propecia or Proscar, it reduces DHT by inhibiting an enzyme known as Type II 5-alpha reductase. DHT is derivative of testosterone. This medication works by decreasing the amount of DHT and this leads to increased hair regrowth and slower hair loss.
