Prolensa (Bromfenac Sodium) is an ophthalmic solution used to treat inflammation and reduce eye pain in patients after cataract surgery. Bromfenac Sodium a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by blocking the effects of prostaglandins (certain natural substances) that caused pain and inflammation. Remove contact lenses before administering Prolensa Ophthalmic drops. Prolensa is available only with a doctor’s valid prescription.

We currently have the brand Prolensa ophthalmic solution comes Canada manufactured by Bausch & Lomb. It is available in one strength of 0.07 %/3 ml and quantity of 1 or 2 bottles per pack. Generic Bromfenac ophthalmic solution is not available.
The most common side effects of Prolensa eye drops include:
• Blurred vision;
• Headache;
• Eye pain and eye discomfort in bright light;
• Watery eyes.
If you suffer any serious side effects as below, please notify your doctor or pharmacist immediately:
• Serious allergic reactions (itching, rash, trouble breathing);
• Loss of vision;
Do not use Prolensa ophthalmic drops if you are allergic to Bromfenac Sodium or if you are wearing contact lens. Tell your doctor about all the medical conditions you have had before, especially if you have:
• Allergies to other NSAIDS (e.g., naproxen, celecoxib);
• (Aspirin-sensitive) asthma;
• Bleeding;
• Diabetes;
• Nasal polyps;
• Other eye problems.
Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking including prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines including herbal supplements, especially of: anti-platelet medications, blood thinners, other eye medications, other NSAID medications. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not drive or operate machinery as Prolensa can cause blurred vision.
How long should I use Prolensa eye drops?
Prolensa is usually used one day before cataract surgery, continued on the day of the surgery, and for two weeks after the surgery.
How do I store Prolensa?
Store this medication at room temperature, protect it from light and moisture, and keep it out of reach of children. Discard left over medication 28 days after opening.
