Prevident (Sodium Fluoride 1.1%) is an over-the-counter toothpaste that strengthens tooth enamel. Sodium fluoride remineralizes weakened tooth enamel, making the teeth more resistant to decay. Prevident is also used to prevent cavities, especially in high-risk people. People with dry mouth and frequent exposure to acidic foods and beverages are at risk of developing cavities. Prevident also reduces tooth sensitivity. Worn enamel, exposed tooth roots, cavities, and poor oral hygiene can cause tooth sensitivity. The active ingredient in Prevident is Sodium Fluoride 1.1%. Sodium Fluoride 1.1% belongs to a class of drugs called dental use minerals. It works by incorporating itself in the tooth structure to prevent cavities.
