PanOxyl (Benzoyl Peroxide) is used to treat mild to moderate acne. Acne can be whiteheads or blackheads with a few papules and pustules. Moderate acne is more widespread with white and blackheads with papules and pustules. The active ingredient in PanOxyl is Benzoyl Peroxide. Benzoyl Peroxide belongs to a class of drugs called topical acne agents. It works by reducing the number of acne-causing bacteria. It also causes the skin to dry and peel, revealing healthier skin.

We currently offer the brand PanOxyl from India (Benzac AC) manufactured by Galderma in the strength of 5%/20gm gel. The generic Benzoyl Peroxide is also available from India also called Persol AC Gel manufactured by Wallace Pharmaceuticals in the strength of 2.5%/20 gm and 5%/30 gm AquaGel.
Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using PanOxyl. The most common side effects of PanOxyl may include the following:
• Dry skin;
• Irritation;
• Itching;
• Peeling;
• Red skin
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Increased sensitivity to sunlight;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, including rash, severe dizziness, breathing difficulties, itching or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat
These are not all of the side effects of PanOxyl. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.
You should not use PanOxyl if you are allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide or any ingredient in PanOxyl. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or planning to be pregnant;
• Have very sensitive skin
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between PanOxyl and other medicines, especially topical medications. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is unknown if PanOxyl will harm an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is not known if PanOxyl passes into breast milk or if it may affect a nursing infant. Use PanOxyl precisely as prescribed by your doctor. PanOxyl is a topical medication and should be used on the skin only. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, or nose. Before using this medicine to treat acne for the first time, check if you are allergic to it. Put a small amount on one or two small acne areas for three days. If you have an allergic reaction, stop using this drug and get medical help immediately. You can continue using this drug if you don’t have an allergic reaction. Apply Benzoyl Peroxide to the affected skin areas. Wash your hands before and after applying the medication. Benzoyl Peroxide may bleach hair or fabrics. Use carefully and avoid contact with hair, clothing, and furnishings. This medication can increase your sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and use sunscreen (at least SPF 30) outdoors. Store PanOxyl at room temperature. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
