Oxistat (Oxiconazole Nitrate) is a prescription medication used to treat skin infections such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, and ringworm. Fungal skin infections can happen anywhere on the body; they can be itchy and cause burns. Oxistat is also used to treat pityriasis (tinea versicolor), a fungal infection that causes a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs. The active ingredient in Oxistat is Oxiconazole nitrate. Oxiconazole belongs to a class of medicines called azole antifungals. It works by preventing and suppressing the growth of fungus.
