Orilissa is used to treat painful symptoms of endometriosis (when the tissue that forms the lining of the uterus grows in other parts of the body). Orilissa improves the symptoms of endometriosis after one month of taking it. It improves symptoms such as pain during periods, pain between periods, heavy bleeding during periods, pain during sex, pain or discomfort in the belly or pelvic region. Orilissa may help you feel better by reducing your pain. It may also improve emotional well-being and helps to get a control over the symptoms. This medication improves endometriosis by lowering the amount of estrogen (responsible for thickening of tissues lining the uterus) in your body. The safety and efficacy of Orilissa are not known in children under 18 years old.
