One-Alpha (Alfacalcidol) is a prescription vitamin-D analogue used hypocalcaemia, secondary hyperparathyroidism, and osteodystrophy in patients with chronic renal failure. The body needs calcium for healthy bones and teeth. It is also used to treat the softening and deformity of the bones due to a lack of calcium (rickets or osteomalacia). The active ingredient in One-Alpha is Alfacalcidol. Alfacalcidol belongs to a class of drugs called vitamin D analogues. It works by increasing the amount of vitamin D in the body. Increasing the amount of vitamin D in the body increases calcium and phosphate levels.
