Olumiant (Baricitinib) is a prescription medication used to treat adults with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It helps to decrease pain, tenderness and swelling in the joints. Baricitinib belongs to the class of medications known as Janus Kinase (JAK) inhibitors. This medication is given to patients who have not responded well or could not tolerate other RA medications. Baricitinib is an immunosuppressant that works by blocking the action of enzymes known as Janus kinases. Olumiant is usually taken once daily and it should be taken daily to get the most benefit from it.
