Nootropil (Piracetam) is a prescription medication used to treat Alzheimer's disease, stroke, and memory loss in Parkinson's disease. Alzheimer's disease is a progressive disorder that destroys memory and other critical mental functions. Stroke is the paralysis of the face, arms, and legs, and it causes difficulty in speaking, walking, and understanding. Parkinson's disease is caused by the damage or shrinking of the brain in old age, leading to tremors, involuntary movements, and memory loss. Nootropil is used in combination with other medicines to treat myoclonus; a condition where the nervous system causes muscles, especially in the arms and legs, to jerk or twitch uncontrollably. The active ingredient in Nootropil is Piracetam. Piracetam belongs to a class of drugs called GABA analogues. It works by improving blood and oxygen supply to the brain and rejuvenating the cells to normal functioning.
