NexGard Spectra (Afoxolaner/Milbemycin Oxime) is a prescription medication used for dog fleas, ticks, and worm treatment. The drug treats paralysis ticks, bush ticks, and brown dog ticks. NexGard Spectra is also used to prevent heartworms in dogs, so you don't need to administer a separate heartworm treatment for your dog. The drug works against zoonotic hookworm, Ancylostoma ceylanicum, and gut worms such as whipworms and roundworms. The drug also treats gastrointestinal nematodes, mange, and mites. NexGard Spectra is a combination medicine. The active ingredients in NexGard Spectra are Afoxolaner and Milbemycin Oxime. Afoxolaner belongs to a class of drugs called ectoparasiticides. It works by killing external parasites such as fleas, ticks, and mites. Milbemycin Oximes belongs to a class of medications called endoparasiticides. It works by killing parasites like worms that live inside dogs.
