Monoprost (Latanoprost) is a prescription medication used to treat conditions associated with increased pressure within the eye, which may affect eyesight. These conditions include open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. The active ingredient in Monoprost is Latanoprost. Latanoprost belongs to a class of medications called prostaglandins. It works by increasing the natural outflow of fluid from inside the eye into the bloodstream to lower pressure in the eye.

We currently offer the brand Monoprost from Canada manufactured by Labtician Ophthalmics Inc. in the strength of 50 mcg/ml droperettes. The generic Latanoprost is not available.
Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using Monoprost. The most common side effects of Monoprost may include the following:
• Eye discharge;
• Eye itching or irritation;
• Increased tears;
• Temporary blurred vision;
• Thicker eyelashes
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Brown discoloration of the iris;
• Eyelid swelling;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing, hives, swelling of the face, lips, or throat;
• Swelling of the retina
These are not all of the side effects of Monoprost. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.
You should not use Monoprost if you are allergic to Latanoprost or any ingredient in Monoprost. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant;
• Have a viral infection of the eye caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV);
• Have eye problems;
• Have or have had eye surgery;
• Have severe asthma;
• Wear contact lenses
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Monoprost and other medicines. Wait at least 5 minutes between using Monoprost and other eye drops. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is unknown if Monoprost will harm an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is unknown if Latanoprost passes into breast milk or if it may harm your nursing infant. Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. Monoprost comes as an eye drop. Use one drop once a day in the affected eye. It is best to use this drug in the evening. Wash your hands before and after applying the drug. Sit or stand comfortably. Use your finger to pull down the lower eyelid of your affected eye gently. Squeeze the Monoprost container so that only one drop goes into your eye, then release the lower eyelid. Press a finger against the corner of the affected eye by the nose. Hold for 1 minute while keeping your eyes closed. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using Monoprost. Wait at least 15 minutes after administering your dose before putting the contact lenses back in. Monoprost may blur your vision temporarily. Do not drive or use tools or machines until your vision becomes clear again. Store this drug below 250C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
