Minims atropine (Atropine sulphate) is a prescription medication used to make the pupil of your eye larger and relax the muscles in your eye. This makes it easier for your eye to be examined and your vision tested. The active ingredient in Minims atropine is Atropine sulphate. Atropine sulphate belongs to a class of drugs called antimuscarinic agents. It works by blocking the acetylcholine, which relaxes the eye’s ciliary muscle and causes the pupil to dilate.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using Minims atropine. The most common side effects of Minims atropine may include the following:
• Flushing of the skin around the eyes;
• Increased body temperature;
• Red or itchy eyes
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Fast heartbeat;
• Signs of an allergic reaction such as breathing difficulties, runny nose, swelling of the face, lips, or throat
These are not all of the side effects of Minims atropine. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.
You should not use Minims atropine if you are allergic to Atropine sulphate or any ingredient in Minims atropine. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or planning to be pregnant;
• Have closed-angle glaucoma;
• Have Down’s syndrome or albinism;
• Wear contact lenses
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Minims atropine and other medicines, especially other eye medications and antihistamines. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is unknown whether Minims atropine will harm your unborn baby. Your doctor will only prescribe this medication during pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is unknown if Atropine sulphate passes into breast milk or if it may affect a nursing infant. Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. Minims atropine is an eye drop. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the medication. Wait to wear your contact lenses until the effects of the drug have completely worn off. Wash your hands before applying the eye drops. Carefully dry your eye with a tissue and pull your lower eyelid down to create a pocket for the drops. Carefully instill a drop in your lower eyelid and close it. Press the inner corner of your eyelid for three minutes to prevent the solution from draining. Minims Atropine may make your vision blurry after application. Wait until your vision clears before driving or using machines. Store this drug in a cool and dry place, away from direct heat and light. Keep out of the reach of children.
