Mepron (Atovaquone) is a prescription medication used to prevent or treat a serious lung infection called pneumocystis pneumonia. This medication helps to stop symptoms of infection such as cough, fever, shortness of breath, and tiredness. Mepron belongs to a class of drugs called Antimalarials. It works by stopping the growth of certain types of protozoa that can cause pneumonia.

Seek emergency medical help if you have any signs of an allergic reaction to this medication. The common side effects of Mepron may include diarrhea, fever, headache, nausea, rash, and vomiting.

Contact your doctor immediately if you have any of the serious side effects such as symptoms of liver disease:
• Dark urine;
• Jaundice;
• Loss of appetite;
• Stomach pain
