Mekinist (Trametinib) is a prescription cancer medication that used alone or in combination with another medication called Tafinlar (Dabrafenib) for the treatment of certain types of cancer in people wo have a “BRAF” gene mutation. It is used to treat melanoma, thyroid cancer and a type of lung cancer (non-small cell lung cancer-NSCLC). Trametinib works by blocking MEK and by preventing its activation by BRAF, which slows down the growth and spread of the cancer cells in the body.

Canadian Pharmacy King currently sells the brand Mekinist from Canada manufactured by Novartis. There is no generic available for this medication. Mekinist is available in the strength of 0.5 mg and 2 mg tablets.
The common side effects of Mekinist include acne or itchy skin, diarrhea, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea or vomiting and stomach pain.
Tell your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Easy bleeding or bruising;
• Fever chills;
• Signs of heart failure;
• Signs of kidney problems;
• Signs of lung disease;
• Signs of muscle damage;
• Signs of skin infection;
• Sudden weight gain;
• Swelling ankles or feet;
• Unusual tiredness

Mekinist should not be used during pregnancy as it may harm an unborn baby. Inform your doctor right away if you become pregnant or think you are pregnant. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk.
