Marvelon 28 Day (Desogestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol) is a prescription medication used to prevent pregnancy. The drug may also be used to treat mild to moderate acne. Marvelon may also help periods become lighter and shorter. The active ingredients in Marvelon 28 Day are Desogestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol. Desogestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol belong to a class of drugs called hormonal contraceptives. They work by inhibiting egg release by stopping the egg from maturing. The drug also changes the cervical mucus consistency to make it difficult for sperm to reach the egg and also changes the lining of the uterus to make it less suitable for implantation.
