Locacorten vioform (Clioquinol/Flumethasone Pivalate) is a prescription medication used to relieve external ear inflammation and infections and fungal infections of the outer ear. External ear infections are present with pain, itching, irritation, and a feeling of pressure or fullness inside your ear. Topical Locacorten vioform is used to relieve inflammation and itching due to skin conditions like contact or allergic dermatitis or seborrheic dermatitis. The active ingredients in Locacorten vioform are Clioquinol and Flumethasone Pivalate. Clioquinol belongs to a class of drugs called anti-infective agents. It works by preventing the growth of fungi or bacteria. Flumethasone Pivalate belongs to a class of drugs called corticosteroids. It works by reducing inflammation and itching.

We currently offer the brand Locacorten Vioform from Canada manufactured by Paladin in the strength of 1%/0.02%/11 ml ear drops and 3%/0.02%/30 gm cream. The generic Clioquinol/Flumethasone Pivalate is not available.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using Locacorten vioform. The most common side effects of Locacorten vioform may include the following:
• Bleaching of skin;
• Burning, itching, and irritation of application site;
• Mild and temporary skin rash at application site

Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Blood-containing blisters;
• Breathing difficulties;
• New or spreading infection;
• Severe itching or burning of skin at the application site;
• Swelling of face, lips, and throat

These are not all of the side effects of Locacorten vioform. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.

You should not use Locacorten vioform if you are allergic to Clioquinol, Flumethasone Pivalate, or any ingredient in Locacorten vioform. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are allergic to corticosteroids;
• Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or planning to be pregnant;
• Have a punctured eardrum;
• Have open wounds;
• Have pre-existing viral skin infections;
• Have rosacea or dermatitis around the mouth

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Locacorten vioform and other medicines, especially topical corticosteroids or eardrops containing corticosteroids. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Do not use this drug during pregnancy except the benefit outweigh the risk. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is not known if Clioquinol or Flumethasone Pivalate passes into breast milk. Use Locacorten vioform eardrops precisely as prescribed by your doctor. Use 2 to 3 drops twice daily. Warm the eardrops to body temperature by holding the bottle in the palm of your hand before applying it. Gently clear excess wax and debris from your ear. Tilt your head so the affected ear faces up. Gently pull your ear lobe up and back to straighten your ear canal. Instill the drops into the ear canal and keep the ear facing up for about 5 minutes to allow the medication to reach the bottom of the ear canal. Do not let the applicator tip touch any surface to avoid contamination. Apply Locacorten vioform cream thinly 2 to 3 times daily. Wash your hands before applying the cream. Do not cover the application site with dressings unless instructed by your doctor. Do not apply Locacorten vioform near your eyes. If the medication gets into your eyes, flush at once with plenty of water. Keep this medicine in its original package out of sight and reach of children. Store in a dry place below 250C.
