Lithium Carbonate (Lithium) is used to treat manic episodes of bipolar disorder. This includes symptoms of: hyperactivity, rushed speech, poor judgement, reduced need for sleep, aggression, and anger. Lithium Carbonate affects the flow of sodium through nerve and muscle cells in the body, which affects excitation or mania. The usual recommended start dose is 150mg dosage.

The brand Lithium Carbonate comes from United Kingdom also called Priadel by Sanofi Aventis and Liskonum by GlaxoSmithKline. The generic Lithium Carbonate comes from Canada manufactured by a different manufacturer. It may come from other international countries. Lithium Carbonate is available in a 150mg, 200mg, 300mg, 400mg, and 450mg dosage.
