<b><font color = "red"> Lescol XL is NOW available</font></b><br> Lescol (Fluvastatin) is an HMG CoA reductase inhibitor (also known as a “statin.”) It works by reducing the levels of “bad” cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides in the blood, while increasing the “good” cholesterol (HDL). It can be used in adults and children over the age of 10 years old in order to lower high cholesterol levels and triglycerides in the blood that can build fatty deposits (plague) in the blood vessels. Lescol is also sometimes used to lower the risk of heart complications for some people with coronary heart disease. The usual recommended start dose is 80mg tablet.

• Signs of liver problems
o Clay-colored stools
o Dark-colored urine
o Jaundice
o Loss of appetite
o Tiredness
o Upper stomach pain
• Tenderness or weakness – especially if accompanied by a fever, unusual tiredness, or dark colored urine;
• Unexplained muscle pain;

Less serious side effects of Lescol may include: muscle pain, headache, stomach pain, nausea, or indigestion.

Lescol should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. Talk to your doctor about your medical history to be sure you can safely take Lescol. Particularly if you have a history of: liver disease, muscle pain or weakness, kidney disease, diabetes, thyroid disorder, if you drink more than 2 alcoholic beverages daily. This medication can cause a condition that results in the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue, leading to kidney failure.You should not take Lescol if you are allergic to Fluvastatin, if you have active liver disease, or if you are pregnant or nursing. This medication can harm an unborn baby and cause side effects in a nursing infant. Children under 10 should not be taking Lescol. There may be an interaction between Lescol and other medications including: gemfibroxil, fenofibric acid, fenofibrate, any medicine containing niacin, other cholesterol medications, antibiotics, antifungals, diabetes medications, heart medications, antiseizure medications, medicines to treat excess stomach acid/stomach ulcers. Talk to your doctor about any medications or herbal supplements you are currently taking.
