Lax-A-Day is an over-the-counter medication used to relieve occasional constipation. Constipation occurs when you have a problem passing stools. If you pass fewer than three stools a week or have difficulty passing stool, you may be constipated. The active ingredient in Lax-A-Day is Propylene Glycol 3350. Propylene Glycol 3350 belongs to a class of drugs called osmotic laxatives. It works by causing water to be retained in the stool, increasing the number of bowel movements and softening the stool so it is easier to pass.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using Lax-A-Day. The most common side effects of Lax-A-Day may include the following:
• Abdominal cramps;
• Bloating;
• Diarrhea;
• Gas;
• Nausea
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing, hives, swelling of the face, lips, or throat

You should not use Lax-A-Day if you are allergic to Propylene Glycol or any ingredient in Lax-A-Day. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:

• Have intestinal blockage
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between the Lax-A-Day and other medicines. Do not take other medicines within 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking Lax-A-Day. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is unknown if this medicine will harm an unborn baby. Discuss the benefits and risks of using this drug in pregnancy with your doctor. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is unknown if Lax-A-Day passes into breast milk or if it may harm your nursing infant. Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. Lax-A-Day comes as a powder for solution. Add the powder to 250 mL (1 cup) of water, juice, coffee, or tea. Stir until all the contents are dissolved. Drink the solution immediately. It may take 2 to 4 days to see the drug's full effect. However, please do not take this medicine for longer than 7 days unless your doctor recommends it. Store this drug at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
