This medication may also be used to treat high blood pressure. Furosemide works by eliminating water and salt from the body by increasing the amount of urine produced and excreted.

Common side effects of Lasix include:

Serious side effects include:
• Difficult to concentrate;
• Painful or difficult urination;

You should not use Lasix if you are unable to urinate. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Furosemide can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. This medication may also slow breast milk production. Do not use Lasix without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. There may be an interaction between Lasix and other medications such as cyclosporine, digoxin, methotrexate, vardenafil, ibuprofen, risperidone, etc.
