Intuniv (Guanfacine Hydrochloride, or Guanfacine HCl) is NEW prescription medication used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety and hypertension (ADHD) in children aged 6 to 17. Guanfacine is not a stimulant; it is a sympatholytic drug and also belongs to the class of medications called alpha adrenergic agonists. It is often used in combination with an ADHD stimulant medication. Intuniv is a long acting tablet that is taken once daily normally in the morning. Take Intuniv exactly as prescribed.
