Grazax (Lyophilisate)

Grazax (Lyophilisate) is a prescription allergy extract used to treat hay fever, allergic rhinitis, and conjunctivitis (itchy eyes) caused by grass pollen in adults and children (5 years or older). Grazax contains 75,000 SQT standardized allergen extract of grass pollen from Timothy grass (Phleum Pratense) as the active ingredient. It works by increasing the body’s immunological tolerance to grass pollen, reducing the severity of allergic reactions over time. Using Grazax during allergy seasons can help reduce symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyes.

Get medical help immediately if you have any signs of an allergic reaction while taking Grazax. The most common side effects of Grazax may include the following:
• Changes in taste;
• Diarrhea;
• Mouth irritation;
• Nausea and vomiting;
• Stomach pain

Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, including:
• Deteriorating conditions;
• Difficulty with swallowing;
• Severe cough;
• Severe chest pain;
• Shortness of breath;
• Swelling of the face, mouth, or throat;
• Voice changes or hoarseness

Before using Grazax, your doctor may perform some tests on your, such as a skin prick test and blood test, to be sure that Grazax is appropriate for you. Grazax comes as a soft and light tablet to be taken sublingually. You should take a tablet once daily by dissolving it under the tongue. It is often recommended to avoid eating or drinking for at least 5 minutes after taking Grazax. This is to make sure that the tablet is completely dissolved. You should wash your hand before touching the tablets. Grazax should be started four months before the grass pollen season for optimal effect. Treatment should be continued all year round for three years to get the best effect of Grazax. Your symptoms should get better a few hours after taking Grazax. You should continue taking the Grazax tablet daily even if you feel better. If there is no improvement in your condition or it worsens, you should consult your doctor immediately.

Before you start taking this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant;
• Have been grass previously treated for pollen allergies and had a severe allergic reaction;
• Have problems with your heartbeat;
• Have lung or breathing problems, including severe asthma or COPD;
• Have severe illness that affects the immune system or any malignancy

Tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant. During pregnancy, it is unknown if Grazax has a harmful effect on the growing baby. You should discuss the risks and benefits of using Grazax as a pregnant woman with your doctor. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding if you are using Grazax for grass allergies. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Grazax and other medications. Keep it in a cool, dry place where the temperature stays below 25°C.
